Berlinale sensation: “Teaches of Peaches” wins Teddy Award and Audience Award!

Dear friends, colleagues, and fans,

We can hardly believe it, but it’s true: “Teaches of Peaches” has achieved great success at the Berlinale!

We are thrilled to announce that our film not only represented at the prestigious Berlinale but also came home with two significant awards: the Teddy Award and third place in the Audience Award in the Panorama section. What an incredible success for our team and for everyone who has supported this film!

At this point, we want to extend a huge thank you to the entire team and all supporters who, with their hard work and dedication, made this success possible. Without all of you, “Teaches of Peaches” would not be what it is today.

During the award ceremony, Judy Landkammer delivered a moving speech that perfectly captured our emotions and reflected our vision for this film. Here is an excerpt from her speech:

“…thank you, Peaches, for your artistic vision throughout the past 20 years and for giving us access to your audiovisual treasures. Thank you not only for letting us into your world but also for understanding the political relevance of sharing this material with the public. We would also like to thank Berlin, the city that gave us the space to become who we are. Let’s never take this freedom for granted. Now that remigration and mass deportation fantasies seem to have become socially acceptable in wider parts of the German political sphere, it is more relevant than ever to protect and foster a cultural landscape that is plural and critical, that listens to the voices that often go unheard or are prevented to be heard.

Tonight, we want to acknowledge the immense privilege and responsibility that comes with this platform. The queer community has fought tirelessly for visibility, equality, and acceptance, and this award is a symbol of the strides we have made together. But we are still far from the finish line. In times in which corporations and nationalist politics use our experiences for pinkwashing their extractivist, imperialist violence, we have to raise our voices. Let’s stay queer as in anti-colonial, queer as in anti-fascist, queer as in “smash the patriarchy,” queer as in “fuck the pain away.”

These words deeply touch us and show how important it is to raise our voices and stand up for the values that are dear to us.

We look forward with great anticipation to future film projects and are grateful for the opportunities that lie ahead to continue telling stories and touching people. Your commitment and support mean so much to us, and we look forward to continuing this journey together!

Once again, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who believed in us and accompanied us on this journey. Together, we have achieved great things!

Warm regards, FFFyeah
